Art Record
Several years ago I set about, with the help of my organized librarian cousin, to compile an art record of all the pieces I had created for the last 50 plus years. It is a chronological list and a set of images.
Priorities
I have become aware of dust bunnies and a neglected car, paper piles and soiled slip covers. These things are on, and then off my radar, with no action taken. There are a limited number of hours in a day and there is a limited supply of energy in a person.
Summer is here
Art work is different than gardening. Usually, in creating art, one does actually finish and move on to another project.
Studio Tour
Even a 1970's apartment makes a beautiful studio. I have lots of room for storage of fabrics and lots of surfaces.
Radical Pruning
My radical pruning happened outside the house. I took a deeper look and, with knee pads and sun hat on, and armed with sharpened clippers, really went to town on the dead wood!
Responding
People are influenced by what they experience. The current pandemic has many of us even more focused than usual on what it is we want to do with our time, and what we want to say.
Just Right
Goldilocks tried out bowls of porridge, chairs and beds, to find the ones that were just right.
Abstract Art Quilt
Below are my two newest abstract art pieces. Lullaby uses calm colors and a rocking repetition of shapes, similar to a melody in a song. The shape could be a cradle or a boat.
Art Plus Location
I sometimes create Contemporary Quilt Art for a specific location. When I ship off a completed commission for a unique space, I think about whether it will indeed add something good to that location.
September in the Studio
Above is the small mock up version of "Long View". I have been working on the large version that, when complete, and remodeling to the building is done, will hang in the State Hospital in Evanston, Wyoming.
What to do next?
There are some big questions about what to do next, but there are the simple prioritize-my-time sort as well.
Adventure Abroad
In June I traveled overseas, and for twenty-five days was away from the safety and boring routines of home. The countries visited were Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary (cities - Zurich, Prague, Olomouc, Bratislava, Vienna, and Budapest). I was with my traveling cousin and the Gillette Chamber Singers.

I don't get it
I have at least one friend who is made uncomfortable by abstract art. Her response is usually,"I don't get it".
Which Path is Best?
The future is unknown, and therefore not a sure thing. Do we proceed with caution, or take a bold leap of faith? At the end of this blog (after a Sowada recipe), there are a list of the conflicting words of wisdom we have grown up with. Most lean towards being careful. But first, I will describe what BOLD looks like.
